Meet Richard Wasserman

Richard L. Wasserman is an independent consultant with expertise in medical education, pharmaceutical marketing strategy and execution, food allergy treatment, immunoglobulin therapy, and electronic medical records. 

He was raised in New York, where he graduated cum laude from Hobart College with Honors in Chemistry. He received a PhD in immunology from the Mount Sinai School of Medicine and the City University of New York Graduate School, as well as an MD from Southwestern Medical School.

Following training in pediatrics and a fellowship in bone marrow transplantation and immunology at The Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, he was a fellow at The Rockefeller University (Kunkel Lab). Then he became Chief of Pediatric Allergy and Immunology and Pediatric Program Director at Southwestern Medical School.  

After six years as full-time faculty in the departments of Pediatrics and Microbiology, Wasserman started a private practice in allergy/ immunology.

In 2014, he joined Allergy Partners, where he was a managing partner until 2023. He also formed a research group that has conducted more than 150 FDA-approved studies. 

He directed the Immunology Clinic at Children’s Medical Center of Dallas for 19 years, taught immunodeficiency to medical students for more than 25 years, and was a Clinical Professor of Pediatrics at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School from 1988 until 2015.

 Dr. Wasserman served as Medical Director of Pediatric Allergy and Immunology at Medical City Children’s Hospital from 1994 until 2025. and managing partner of Allergy Partners of North Texas.

He is a past president and Newsletter editor of the Pediatric Society of Greater Dallas.  Wasserman is currently a Trustee of Hobart and William Smith Colleges. He has served on numerous AAAAI, ACAAI and CIS committees and is a past member of the AAAAI Board of Directors. 

Wasserman has authored or co-authored more than 175 peer-reviewed publications, case reports, book chapters, reviews, and more than 125 International Meeting posters and presentations.
