Meet Richard Wasserman

Richard L. Wasserman is an independent consultant with expertise in medical education, pharmaceutical marketing strategy and execution, food allergy treatment, immunoglobulin therapy, and electronic medical records. 

Richard, a New York native, graduated cum laude from Hobart College with Honors in Chemistry. He holds a PhD in immunology from the Mount Sinai School of Medicine and the City University of New York Graduate School, and an MD from the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School.

Richard completed his training in pediatrics and a fellowship in bone marrow transplantation and immunology at The Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, and was a fellow at The Rockefeller University (Kunkel Lab). He then assumed the role of Chief of Pediatric Allergy and Immunology and Pediatric Program Director at Southwestern Medical School. 

After six years as full-time faculty in the departments of Pediatrics and Microbiology, Richard started a private practice and research group in allergy/ immunology. The research group has conducted more than 150 FDA clinical trials and observational studies, leading to significant advancements in the treatment of allergies, asthma, and immunodeficiency. In 2014, he joined Allergy Partners, where he was a managing partner until 2023.

As Director of the Immunology Clinic at Children’s Medical Center of Dallas for 19 years, he taught immunodeficiency to medical students for over 25 years. He served as a Clinical Professor of Pediatrics at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School from 1988 until 2015.

Richard served as the Medical Director of Pediatric Allergy and Immunology at Medical City Children’s Hospital from 1994 to 2025 and as managing partner of Allergy Partners of North Texas.

 Richard is a past president and Newsletter editor of the Pediatric Society of Greater Dallas, where he promoted initiatives to improve pediatric care in the region.  He is currently a Trustee of Hobart and William Smith Colleges. He has served on numerous committees for the AAAAI, ACAAI, and CIS, and is a past member of the AAAAI Board of Directors. 

Richard has contributed extensively, with over 175 peer-reviewed publications, case reports, book chapters, reviews, and more than 125 International Meeting posters and presentations to his name.
